Spreadsheets and PowerPoint can be used in many ways

In my EDM 310 class, I was refreshed on the use of PowerPoint and Spreadsheets. PowerPoint could be very useful in the classroom. Students could view them on the wall off of a projector, just like at USA. The students could relate to the PowerPoint therefore they will learn from them. Spreadsheets could also be used in the classroom. I could use spreadsheets to average my students grades. I could create a sheet and then insert the grade. With spreadsheet an equation could be created to average the grade for me. I could also use bot PowerPoint and spreadsheets for other things, like class notes or parents name's.

Using a Blog keep everyone on top

Using a Blog in the classroom could help everyone stay on top of things.If the students are appropriate age they can check the blog for homework checklists or updates that might be posted for them to use. If the students are not old enough their parents could retrieve the blog to see what their children are doing in the class. If their children left their homework assignment the parent could look it up on the blog. blogs can be important for both students and parents.

Involve all parents

Parents should be involved in the children's lives, especially what they are learning. I could contact the parents through simple letters. In them I could include what is going on in the classroom and invite them in for viewing it. Parents help to encourage their children to learn if they get involved.

Using proper decorations in the classroom

Proper decorations for a classroom is important. The students need to be able to relate to what is on the walls. For example, if I have a sixth grade classroom, I would not post the ABC's on the wall. They should already know them, I could put big kids playing ball or children doing a science project. The students could relate to age appropriate activities. Students have more success in the classroom if they can relate to it.

Understanding

Understanding. It is important to be understanding. Students experiences things outside of school that their teachers need to understand. If the students needs attention the teacher should get right to it. The teacher needs to be alert of the situations of their students and prepared to deal with each one. When I enter my classroom I aim to be understanding of every student.

Be sure to encourage all students

It is very important to encourage all students. Failure to do so could be failure to the students. All students are to be treated equally but some teachers just can not get it. After taking the Education in a Diverse Society class, it really opened my eyes to how minority students are mistreated. So when I enter my classroom, I plan to encourage all my students, not matter what.
